MESCO partners with Unified Automation

The Industrial Internet of Things is currently one of the main topics in manufacturing optimization; that is, the convergence of data between the plant floor and the rest of the enterprise, through state-of-the-art communication technologies. The driving force behind this development is the rapidly increasing digitalization of the economy and society.

OPC Unified Architecture (UA) is an essential technical building block for this. OPC UA is the leading industrial communications and interoperability standard due to its extreme security, reliability, platform independence, and comprehensive information modeling. It is designed to connect databases, analytic tools, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and other enterprise systems with real-world data from low-end controllers, sensors, actuators, and monitoring devices that interact with real processes that control and generate real-world data.

MESCO and Unified Automation, a provider of OPC developer tools, have recently signed an agreement for MESCO to provide Unified Automation’s OPC UA products in North America. MESCO provides superior services for consulting, training and contracted development alongside with the OPC UA toolkits. Customers will benefit from the one stop shop, getting software and services directly from the experts. We have broad experience integrating the OPC UA technology into sensors, actuators, remote I/O, and control systems.

In both the factory and process automation markets, MESCO and Unified Automation view OPC UA as the enabling IIoT technology of choice that allows sensor and controller level data to be moved from edge devices into the cloud. Since OPC UA can be scaled down to the sensor level, MESCO can embed OPC UA into intelligent field devices that previously were not able to provide this data.
